Dosson, Connor, Teresa and I all went out last night to minister in the Red Light District* here in Chiang Mai. Dosson had a vision over a year ago of doing prostitute ministry and of washing a John’s* feet while here in Thailand.
As we ventured into the district, we wanted to give space for God to move. Dosson had tremendous faith and carried a bucket of water around for the entire time (you can imagine the stares he received).
As we walked around the bars, we shared the gospel with a man and his girlfriend from Australia, who said God had given them hope in using us as a sign. We shared with a man from England, who assured us he didn’t need saving. We shared with Net, a lady boy and a prostitute working at the bar, whose madame had told him to respond with “only Buddha”. And then Dosson felt led to talk to some guys standing not too far from us. One of them was Halis, an agnostic, from Turkey. He said Dosson could wash his feet.
We all stepped outside of the “district” and in the rain, Dosson took a knee and washed this man’s feet. Immediately Halis said, “Let me do the same for you.” And then Halis took a knee.
We talked to Halis, and he said God was far off in another dimension. We assured Halis that Jesus came to him in that space…very close.
We also shared with his friend, Tim from Vegas. He too was agnostic.
It was a beautiful night, full of the Holy Spirit leading.
Thank you Dosson for seeing & believing. Seeing is one thing, but carrying a bucket of water around with you for hours is another.

*A Red Light District is an area where prostitues can be bought and sold. These spaces are usually fronted as bars, as karaoke places, or as massage parlors.
*A ‘John’ is a man (typically a westerner or foreigner) who is buying time with a prostitute.
