Romania started off with a very LONG (somewhere around 14ish hoiurs) AND HOT van ride from Kosova to Craiova… picture being stuck in the back corner of a van with no AC and 7 other people and having to sit in the heat while crossing 3 Borders where they move slow as molasses!
When we got to Craiova we stopped for Dinner and then my team got into a Van with our host for the month and headed about an hour or so down the road to Draganesti-Olt. On this Van ride our host said he needed two people for important jobs and proceeded to explain what those jobs were – 1. Being his PA which would entail getting inside his head and learning to think like him so you could respond to emails/Facebook messages and basically being on call all the time (this job went to Candace) and then 2. Being the PVT coordinator (PVT stands for Parent Vision Trip and is when our parents have the opportunity to join us on the field to do Ministry together) which would entail communicating with AIM back in the states, communicating to the PVT Racers, and getting everything organized for PVT… Raul said this job would need someone who is good with details and my team immediately Voluntold me for the job – little did I know what I was getting myself into when I said “I guess that’s me.”
Romania was a month filled with Raul calling us all Captain and walking into the Mission house randomly and calling out for his Captain and then if you had a specific job he would call that tile out… so a lot of the time Raul would walk into our house and say “PVT Captain… where is my PVT Captain?” and when that happened you knew you were needed but had no idea what for or for how long you were going to be needed.
A lot of Romania for me was spent alone and on my computer communicating with AIM and the Racers and trying to get all the small details pulled together to make the PVT a great time for not only the Racers but the Parents and members of the community as well.
Romania was a long and hard month for sure, but at the end I got to spend a few days doing Ministry with my mom and then got to spend a couple days in Bucharest just relaxing and exploring with her.
All in all Romania was a good but hard month! Stay tuned for a blog from my mom on what PVT was like for her (I’ll add my thoughts to the end of her blog)!
As you may have noticed the faces on the left side of my blog have changed yet again… and that’s because at the end of Romania we had a week of Debrief where we also had our final team changes!
I will say I am glad for the team changes and am super excited for the final leg of The Race here in Africa with this group of Women… I have already seen The Lord in new ways through them!
Here’s to the final two months with Team Game Changers – AJ, Amber, Caley, Chelsea, Heidi, and Me!
I will officially be back in America on December 2 – which still blows my mind that I will be back on American soil in TWO MONTHS!!!! We will be flying into NYC and a few of the girls and I are planning on staying there for a couple of nights to take in the sights/sounds/smells of America as a group, and then flying back home to CO on December 4th or 5th… but I need your help to make that happen!
I am guessing it will cost a few hundred dollars for lodging, food, transportation, shows, and my flight home… so this year for my Birthday (October 20th) I am asking for you to consider sending me the money (PayPal, Venmo, Check) that you would have spent on a gift for me so that I am able to spend a couple more nights with some of the girls that I have grown closer to this year as we experience America for the first time in 11 months together.
Love you all so so so much and am looking forward to being home and seeing all of your lovely faces again!!
