During Month 1 I had been praying for God to give me a ministry that worked with kids at some point on The Race (and many times during) and he did just that this month.
Month 2… This month my whole squad and I have been together at an organization called Kids International Ministries (KIM) in Manila Philippines. We have gotten to do a variety of ministries, from going out into the community and doing feedings, to construction, to swimming with the neighborhood kids (yes we have a pool, and yes we got out into the streets yelling “swimming, swimming”), to going out in teams and doing an ATL (Ask The Lord) walk to find new churches to partner with in doing feedings. But my favorite ministry has been getting to go to the Childrens Home and help out with the Toddlers (I know that’s a big shock to anyone who knows me).
As most of you know, back in the beginning of month one I shared how I had been dealing with Homesickness, well this month has been just what I needed to help with that. Getting to love on the toddlers at the Childrens Home has been exactly what my heart needed. I can see one of my babies back home in each of the toddlers here. I can see Ashlyn in this little boy who will run up to me as soon as I walk into the room to give me the biggest hug. I can see Fallyn in this little girl who is always on the move and doesn’t want to sit still. I can see Monroe in a little boy who smiles at me all day long. I can see Penelope in a little boy who is content to just sit in my lap and play with toys.
Now I’m not saying this month hasn’t been hard, because at times it has been. Being with the toddlers has also made me miss my babies back home more, because of how each one of them reminds me of one of my babies… but being with kids is what I do best, so it’s been great to be in my element.
Also I know I mentioned in my last blog about coming up with a new team name… so without further ado MY NEW TEAM NAME IS Abba’s Lil Nugs!!
Just as a heads up, God has asked me to give up my phone and the comfort/distraction it brings me for the next month (maybe more). So that I can be fully focused and present where he has me. With that being said, I won’t be able to respond to comments right away (I am only going to be checking my e-mail/getting on my computer once per week), but I will respond when I get on. I LOVE each and everyone of you so very much and can’t thank you enough for all of the support you have given me while I have been on The Race.
