In the last episode of Adventures in Squad Leading I mentioned that the lord had restored my ability to dream which has been a prayer since May or June of last year and it has been of renewed zeal since starting ‘Draw the Circle 40 day prayer devotional’ (Thanks Bobby and Sharon: I got a late start but it has been Amazing).
I would honestly anyone who wants to revitalize their prayer life read ‘Circle Maker’ or just pick up the Devotional. Now that our advertising is complete we can return to the blog that is in progress.
But, I also mentioned visions, well buckle up friends this is where it gets really cool. At church, today I was listening to the sermon but something was not sitting well in my spirit. I could really shake it and a little frustrated I finally asked the Holy Spirit what it was and He took me to my place of encounter with the Lord (I would be so happy to take question on this topic at any time, I just don’t want to mass blast what my intimate meeting place with the Lord looks like but the Vision is worth sharing).
When I got there, I saw Jesus stand on the other side of this table with his arms open in welcome. Obviously, rushing to give Jesus a hug I rush past the table at first and it looked like it was set for a banquet. What catches my eyes first is a Cornucopia. So my mind, and my stomach, start to cheer because I love Thanksgiving. With the turkey and stuffing and pies. Jesus sorts of chuckles at me and walks me over to the table and there is no turkey or stuffing. I instead see a place set for me with the Cup of Life and this one is hard to articulate but it was a Battle to fight.
We have been blessed by the Lord to receive an invite to this table. He has given us a Life to live that is overflowing with his goodness and the blessings that he wants to pour out on us. He is the spring of eternal living water so we can live with him forever. We were built for eternity and with Christ we can live that way with that mind set. For the kingdom of God is present and will reign forever and we get to help lay the foundations. Jesus is the cornerstone and we get to be bricks right alongside him.
This brings us to the battle to fight, this building does not get built unopposed. The enemy is active and trying to delay the Kingdom as much as he can. The harvest is plenty and the workers are few; with churches on every corner the workers should be plentiful. But, Satan distracts us with possible good things but that is not what Christ has for us. It could take the form of a relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial. Or a job and comfort, or being financial stable. We need to have our hearts and minds fixed on heaven that is where we belong and that is what we need to plan for. It is a matter of putting first things First.
What is the most important thing in your life?
The first thing that pops into your mind is your god. So, if it was not your relationship with Jesus. I am sorry to inform you, but, you have an idol problem. That is a good place to start your battle. Give it to God and let him show you how he wants you to organize your priorities. This is how I die to myself daily. Or some days hourly if I am feeling particularly stubborn.
