I appreciate that our country realized the importance of having a day set aside for Thanksgiving. It officially began in 1863 when during a time of Civil War, President Lincoln made it a federal holiday.
Does that blow anyone else’s mind?
In one of our nations darkest hours when brothers were killing brothers, we were to stop on the 4th Thursday in November for a day of “Thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in Heavens” (You’ve got to love Wikipedia).
Like with many other holidays, Christmas & Easter, people use Thanksgiving as an annual checkup with God to say thanks; as opposed to a daily routine.
I am ashamed to say that was me for quite some time, longer than I care to admit. Because I have been and still am so remarkable blessed.
-Starting with my amazing parents who walk their faith out daily and are willing to sacrifice their time and talents to work for God.
-My amazing sister and Brother-in-law who generously open their home to me so we can play games after long days of work and the 2 beautiful little girls that they are raising together.
-An amazing extended family who love, care, and are praying for me, even if we don’t see each other as often as I would like.
-Friends whom have become family and who are so amazing that I know they are a gift from God.
-A network of supporters who have shattered my expectations and raised over $14,000 so that I can go into a world that is hurting, a world full of darkness and death to be a beacon of God’s light and love to those who need it.
This thanksgiving list could go on forever because God’s blessing are boundless. I am choosing from this day forward to give thanks to the Father daily as opposed to annually, For He is a beneficent Father!
