Hey friends! It’s been a while. I’m writting this to you from my beautiful back patio in Gainesville, GA (and watching deer play in my backyard!). Clearly we have some catching up to do. It’s been a constant state of transition for the past few months or so, and I’m finally getting settled in. Wanted to let you in on where I’m at currently, at least my thought process. Stay tuned for an announcement of a blog change (I’m getting upgraded to a staff blog address!).

Questions I struggle with post (2nd) race:

Am I on the right side of the road?

What currency is this? Dollar? What’s the exchange rate for dollar?

Is that a monkey in the tree? Oh, its a squirrel! I forgot about those!

How do I drive this again?

(Feels paralyzed in the grocery store with countless options. Takes 3 hours to get to the checkout)

I really get an entire room?! To myself?! And a bed??

Where’s my backpack(/life)?! Oh yeah, I don’t need it. I have a home now.

OH NO I flushed the toilet paper! *thank goodness it still flushes.

OH NO I got bit by a mosquito… (realizes I won’t get malaria)

OH NO I drank the water! (realizes it’s clean here)

When’s the next travel day? Oh, thank goodness, there isn’t one.

Why do I have this much STUFF?!

OMG it’s a rat! (Oh wait, we aren’t in Asia). No, wait, that really is a rat! ??

You mean I’m allowed to run down the street by myself? Anywhere I want? And I won’t get robbed/kidnapped?!

Which language do they speak here? Oh… English…

The culture shock coming back to my own country continues…
