This month we have been partnering with Kids International Ministry in Tacloban. The ministry started a branch here when typhoon Yolanda hit the area. This typhoon is the strongest storm recorded to hit anywhere in written history. So this area is still recovering from the storm.

We went to surrounding villages and took food to each village once a week. The children would come running with bowls for the food that smelled like chicken noodle soup and looked like oatmeal. After everyone had been fed and there was no more food left we would tell a bible story and do a gospel presentation followed by songs and games.

We also got to prep the land, cut bamboo trees, and see the entire construction of a Sunday school room built out of the bamboo. At a church that we partnered with in the area. This is the same church where we helped with VBS and fell in love with the children. One of the children that captivated my heart the most was a girl whose story I didn’t learn until way after I met her. Her father was the local drug dealer and had recently gone to prison. When I would show up to the church she always ran toward and climbed into my arms or onto my lap.

We have build relationships with the people here at KIM and it’s a sure thing that I will miss the Philippines.
