It doesn’t take much digging online to uncover the truths about Cambodia’s human trafficking problem. This is so much more than a problem though. This is a state of emergency.
How can something so prevalent be unknown by so many? How can so many people be aware of this issue, yet the problem persists? Is it the supply meeting the demand or the demand meeting the supply? I’m honestly not sure.
Many young girls are sold into sex slavery everyday, and a 2006 report uncovered that 46% of those who had been recovered reported that it was their mother who facilitated the trafficking. (http://www.humantrafficking.org/countries/cambodia)
I believe God is calling me into this mission to embrace young girls who have a past I can’t begin to imagine, and show them that their future can be so much brighter than they have ever imagined. Jesus already washed their past away. He took their shame, fear, and feelings of unworthiness on so they don’t have to hold on to it. They just need someone to share that truth with them. I fear that some of God’s children believe wholeheartedly that they are not loved, and I will do everything I can to shatter that belief.
Please partner with me to be the light. What would you give to show even just one child that they are loved more than they could ever know?
The first video shows Bella’s story. One child. One heart. One life. One God.
The second is a trailer for the documentary “The Pink Room” which gives a glimpse into this world that’s hidden in plain view.
