Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for showing interest in my upcoming mission work with Adventures in Missions! Here are a few more details to hopefully answer any questions you have.
What have I been up to recently? I graduated from Baylor University in May of 2014 with a degree in education. Shortly after I graduated, I started working full time as the Assistant Summer Camp Director at Camp Allen. In August 2015, I moved to San Marcos and started teaching in a behavioral support/FOCUS class at an elementary school. Throughout both of these jobs I have found God teaching me different ways I can serve Him every day; whether it is working in the office, mentoring staff members, running around with campers, or even just talking to my students on a normal school day.
Why am I going on The World Race? My interest in missions started when I went to South Africa for missionary work with my college church. Shortly after this trip, I found out about an opportunity called The World Race from a friend. I was immediately drawn to the idea of going, and sensed the Lord was asking me to do it one day. This has been on my mind for the last few years, and after a lot of praying and careful consideration I feel like now is finally the right time for me to go!
What is The World Race? It’s an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 countries that is run through an organization called Adventures in Missions (AIM). In each country I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in human trafficking, and bring the hope of the Father’s love to unreached communities.
How can you support me? There are several different ways you can support me. The first and most important way you can support me is with prayer and encouragement! I will face many challenges while preparing and serving on The World Race, and I will definitely need the help and encouragement of my supporters! In Matthew 18:20 Jesus says that “For where two or three gather in my name, I am with them.” I truly believe that prayer is the most essential way you can support me!
Another way you can support me is by word of mouth and service. I am planning several fund raising events to help support my trip. My first fund raiser will be a garage sale in Fort Worth on March 19th. I am currently gathering objects to sell, and if you have anything you would like to donate please let me know. The next few fundraisers will include selling shirts and bracelets (more info coming soon). If you have any creative ideas to help me reach my fundraising goal I would love to hear them!
The third way you can support me is financially. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to raise financial support. In order to leave fully funded in October, I need to raise $16,961. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. I have already saved about half of the money I will need. My goal is to raise as much money as I can on my own, but God is teaching me that we aren’t meant to do anything by ourselves. The large number that I have to raise seems daunting, but I am fully trusting that Father will provide.
