Month 8 in Draganesti-Olt, Romania. Pastor Raul of Hope Church said when he first moved from the North to the South of Romania known as “the graveyard” there was a witch living on every corner. He recounts countless stories of demonic events he’s experienced from possessions to spiritual warfare. Hope Church now has multiple international missionaries and implementing 12 different types of projects to better the community and surrounding areas.

My team has been privileged to work with 3 different missionaries while here all doing separate work in Olt County. Me and another teammate have been working with Marian. He, his wife and 4 kids have pioneered a team together in Danaeasa, a village outside of Draganesti, and have put money down on a house that will serve for multi-purposes. Though he is still paying off the house the work has begun to remodel it to be livable for a missionary family from up North. The time we’ve been with him we’ve helped retile the roof and clean up the grounds. When finished the property will have a mission house, church, and have an area for workshops to take place for outreach to the community.

We had a few hot days as we picked up tiles, moved brush, organized supplies and take instruction from mostly Romanian speakers on how to build a house Romanian style.

This boy is discipled by the team and is among the few believers of the village. Most of the village believe that the Christian “repenters” eat little kids and drink their blood. The country is primarily Orthodox so the priest has a lot of power over the congregation. Many of afraid to even be seen talking with the “repenters”. However, the Father is softening hearts.

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

There is nothing better after a long hot day than biting into fresh watermelon. Here it is sold out of the back of a wagon pulled by a donkey, fresh from the garden. Most Romanians may eat it as a meal with bread and honey.

The house will continue to be something we work on daily while here. They have church services at 10 AM on Sundays. Maybe there will be 20 people or maybe just 3. But no matter the numbers or the foreseen obstacles, I believe God is still at work too. A relationship with Christ is not about a church building, what you wear or how much money you have. This building is in the beginning process. Like this building I too relate. I am in a process. A relationship with Christ is a process. It gets shaped by obedience, trust and loving others more than yourself.
