It is time.

It’s the night before my journey begins on the World Race. I’ve made my final trip to Walmart for last minute provisions. I’ve finished making phone and video calls to friends and family. My pack is finally under 50 pounds and I’m setting my alarm to wake up at 3am to start the long trek to our final destination in the Dominican Republic.

It’s hitting me hard that it’s finally time. These past few months of preparation, training and fundraising has all led to this moment.

As 1 of 2 logistics leaders on my squad, I’m responsible for ensuring my squad has a safe and successful travel day between countries or across borders… So when my alarm goes off in just 4 short hours from now… it’s “go time.”

I’m hoping my excitement to start this tremendous adventure will eclipse the nervousness and hint of fear I have for the unknown… But for now, I sleep!

To be continued… 🙂
