Hey friends and family! So I have been praying and praying about what to write for my final blog. I was looking through notes and I found it! This is a letter my sister Leah wrote for me. I hope this encourages future World Racers or missionaries!
Dear Future World Racer/ Missionary,
You did it! You made your first flight! Now take a moment and look around. Close your eyes and take a deep breath! Listen to the noise around you. Now look around. Memorize all you see. Take this moment in. The next time you feel these emotions of sadness/joy/wonder/ “what the hell did I just do?” Will take place 11 months from now, till your last flight home. Your life is about to change forever. You have the opportunity to see the Lord do some pretty crazy and incredible things. Do not take this time for granted. Engage in your community. Speak with boldness. Pray with expectation. Go deeper in your faith than you have ever gone. Don’t be afraid to be you. God made you to bring Him glory in ways that only you can. Share your story with all the people you meet. Embrace the culture you get to be part of. Take videos of everything because one day those videos will bring you back to God’s goodness and how blessed you are to have so many precious moments that took place all over the world! Oh the things you are about to experience! Future World Racer/ Missionary, you have no idea all the things that are about to rock your world. Don’t allow your days to become just one less day until you are home because each day the Lord is with you. Each day you have a purpose of being there. Sometimes you just have to go and find out why. The best type of ministry is when you are off the clock. It’s those you walk past. The one who makes you coffee or checks you out at the store. Spend time to get to know them. Journal as much as possible. Write the detail moments you enjoyed that day. Write what you are struggling with because its amazing to see how much growth took place in just eleven months. So proud of you!
Love,
Leah Finlay
Man when I first read these words I didn’t fully understand what she meant. I read them again a few days ago and was in tears because every word she wrote was spot on. Hope this encourages anyone who stumbles on this blog.
Blessings,
Victoria Finlay
