As many of you know my first stop is Cape Town South Africa! Well I didn’t go straight to Cape Town. I have had three travel days, which have been very very interesting. My first flight was from Atlanta, Georgia to J berg. That was a long thirteen hour flight. I sat next to a South African man who kept sleeping on me. A little too close for comfort, but I guess I have to get use to it. It was extremely hard to sleep on the plane. When we finally made it to J berg we were picked up by my squad mate Bron’s family and taken to spend the night at their church. That night we were welcomed with many hugs and blessings. They also fed us dinner! We had our first meal in South Africa! By the way… The soda here is way better than American soda. Before going to bed Bron’s dad told us about how South Africa has been in a drought. I started singing “bless the rains down in Africa” and next thing we know, it’s raining outside! The next morning we were given a nice breakfast of cappuccino/ chocolate muffins, coffee/tea, fruit, and yogurt! It was so good! When it came time to leave we had a big group of prayer for them and they had one for us! Our next way of transportation was a bus. It was way nicer than I had expected. Not at all comfortable though. The seven hour time difference isn’t making it easier either! After three full travel days we finally made it to our host home! We had a day of rest and went on a walk around the town. We start ministry today with a full day schedule!!! Can’t wait to see how God is going to use us for His glory!
Blessings,
Victoria Finlay
