I’ve been back in the United States for almost 6 months.
In that time, I’ve visited (and made) friends in 9 states.
I took 5 graduate level courses in school counseling.
I go to the gym about 4 times a week.
I do some yoga.
I found this sweet new church community that I’m kind of obsessed with.
And I work a lot.
I’m still a vegetarian.
But I’ve eaten about 15 hot dogs since I’ve been home.
Oops.
My sister got engaged.
My dad got a promotion and a new job out of state.
My squad continues to pray for and encourage each other.
I even started a new blog because I missed this one so much.

This has been a beautiful season of rest and peace and joy.
[When I’ve let it be that]
I have a tendency to hear God’s direction, and then add my own plan to supplement it.
[As if it needs supplementing]
So after a few hiccups and a fight with my need for control,
I threw my hands up in the air and said
Whatever, God.”
[Sometimes I’m sassier than I intend]
He had asked me to do nothing.
To wait.
To be patient.
And after months of hating the idea of giving up control, I finally was willing to do just that.

Funny story.
That’s when everything started to make sense.

In a series of events that were too incredible to be coincidence, in his typical show-offy way, God did EXACTLY what he told me he would do.
And you know what I did to make it happen?
Nothing.

So.
It is full of humility and gratitude that I get to tell you all:
I will be returning to the World Race.
I’ll be on the field for 5 months, now in the role of Alumni Squad Leader.
On the World Race Expedition Squad.
[It’s awesome and intense and if you haven’t stalked the website yet, go do it]
I’ll be with one other Alumni Squad Leader and get to walk alongside and disciple 5 Alumni Team Leaders and a whole squad of newbies.

I leave in August, and don’t fully know what to expect.
I know that I get to do a lot of encouraging.
A lot of leadership development.
A lot of team building.
A lot of following the Lord and bringing people with me.
A lot of personal growth.
A lot of Jesus.
And a whole lot of unknown [what I’ll choose to call] adventures.

I will be in a different role than before.
This time, my focus is on the squad and ensuring that we all come out of this with a new sense of freedom, a deeper identity in our Maker, and with all our fingers and toes intact.

I’ll be in 5 countries from August to December:
Spain
Morocco
Cyprus
Jordan
and
Israel.
That is always subject to change, of course.

If you want to follow along, I would so love the company.
You can subscribe to my blog with the “Follow Me” button on the left.
I also get to fundraise again
[everyone’s favorite part]
so if you feel led to give, you can do that with the “Donate” button at the top of the page.
