So I’ve come to realize that my practical, “what are we doing” type updates are written in my weekly newsletter that I send to my supporters.
[If you want one of those, click “Donate” on top of this page and I’ll put you on the list.]
My blog, however, has become more of a soapbox.
You get this for free.
Enjoy today’s platform.

This year, we’ve been to Africa, to countries where we’ve encountered people who eat no more than a bowl of rice for their daily sustenance.

We’ve been to Asia, to a country that survived a horrific genocide just 40 years ago that wiped out 3 million people.

Now we’re in Colombia, South America, living across the street from a gang that as recently as three weeks ago was killing people in the street.

And do you know what my team is praying for?

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Seriously?
C’mon guys.

Cops killing people?
People killing cops?
Terrorists blowing up nightclubs?
People terrorizing Muslims?
Donald Trump??

Why are we allowing our beautiful nation to succumb to a culture of HATE?

God created our land in love.
In beauty.

Want proof?
Go stand on the very edge of the jetty and look out at the ocean.
Watch a desert sunrise change the color of the sand.
Climb to the top of the Rockies, taking in the Aspens and the cool breeze.

WHY ARE WE SMEARING BLOOD ON THAT?
Why are we closing our eyes?

STOP IT.
STOP perpetuating this cycle of hate.
STOP being entertained by others’ misfortunes.
STOP thinking that you’re not affected.

A 14 year-old boy died the day before his 15th birthday.
He lived across the street from us here in Cartagena.
He had been drugged, raped, and beaten.
The day he died, a peace treaty was signed between the two gangs.

DON’T let our kids die before we realize we need peace.

I’m not a politician, a great businessman, or even a Kardashian.
But I am an American.
And I want to come home at the end of this year.
I want to come home to a place I feel safe.
To a place that loves diversity and seeks unity instead of placing blame.
To a place where I can thrive, not hide.

I want to see the face of God in a crystal mountain lake AND in the heart of my fellow Americans.

America is supposed to be FREE.
Don’t let the darkness chain you and steal
your joy
your love
your compassion.
Because then you’ve already lost, no matter how hard you think you’re fighting.

Be free, my friends.
