This last weekend I had my first official World Race fundraiser!

I held a garage sale in my dad’s front yard, and made just under $400.
It was amazing to see God provide so fully.
I priced items if I had to, but mostly I let people know why I was fundraising and left it up to whatever they wanted to donate.

But more than feeling blessed by what God financially provided for me, I felt blessed by the emotional support he sent my way.
I am so grateful to have a family that cares enough about me to wake up with the sun and empty boxes of my stuff onto tables.
I am grateful to have neighbors who let me borrow said tables.
I am grateful to family and neighbors and friends and coworkers who donated items to the sale, with no promise of anything in return.
I am grateful to those who came to the sale to tell me how excited they were for my upcoming trip.
I am grateful to those who asked questions about why I’m going and what I’m doing.
I am grateful for my incredible squad mates who haven’t even met me face to face yet, but were praying for the success of the fundraiser.

Someone asked me yesterday what the greatest gift I have ever received is.
It’s you.
It’s the people surprising me every day with the amount of love they have shown me by fully supporting this crazy idea to leave my job and my family and my home and follow Jesus around the world.
As I’ve written before, I have struggled with feelings of inadequacy and irrelevance.
YOU ARE SHATTERING THOSE LIES.
I am so humbled by the generosity of others, and hope that I can bring that spirit with me into the world.

“Jesus answered, ‘If you want to be perfect, GO, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, FOLLOW ME.’” [Matthew 19:21]

I don’t expect perfection [or at least I’m learning not to].

But God has put this really heavily on my heart. My treasure is not here. It’s in 11 countries on 3 continents around the world. If He has asked me to sell all of my things and follow him to those places, I will. And I will do so joyfully. And I will do it with amazing people who take time to read my blog and financially support me and ask me questions and give me flood lamps from the 1990s to sell in my front yard.

You are AMAZING.
Thank you for coming on this adventure with me.

My birthday is on Saturday.

All I want is to hold babies and build houses and take bucket showers for a year.
I’ll be 26 [ugh], so I’m asking you to consider donating $26.
If you decide you want to support me with that, click the “Support Me” link up top!

If it’s not the right time, consider subscribing to my blog by clicking the “Follow Me” link so you can read the updates and so I don’t feel like I’m talking to myself any more than I have to 🙂

Thanks!
