Today, I had the experience of breaking bread with my co-lead and our team of lifeguards and boat drivers. It was an awesome experience, and I learned a lot about the people on the team.

This style of communion/breaking bread was like a chain of encouragement. It started with my co-lead. He took bread (a Hawaiian dinner roll) and a cup of juice (sparkling grape juice) and chose someone in the group to talk two. The two of them stood in the middle of the room and he gave encouragement, stories, and pointed out positive about the person he chose. Then he asked, “will you break bread with me?” They broke bread, shared in communion, and the person he had chosen proceeded to choose someone else. This continued for over an hour and a half. I have a team of talkative and loving people, but the fact that they can keep encouraging each other for over an hour blew my mind. So many relationships had come from spending a month with each other. They came here knowing a basically nobody, and in 24 days, they formed bonds and relationships that are so uplifting and meaningful to them.

This makes me look forward to what will happen next year during the race. I am so excited to see what relationships God brings into my life, like he has here at SpringHill in the last 24 days. I have learned about driving boats, I am doing lifeguard training, and I have a bunch of new friends that have been able to support me through it. (my friends and family from home and school have, too 🙂 )

God is amazing. He totally is. I praise Him for that every day. I praise Him for the opportunities that he gives me every day. I can’t believe how many things He has provided me with.
