To the loved ones of a World Racer,
You are loved, you are cherished, and most importantly, you have been covered in prayer. Our feet have traveled the world chasing Christ’s footsteps. We have encountered new cultures and relationships. All the while, we’ve carried you with us. Although texts and video calls from us are sometimes few and far between, you are still on our minds and in our hearts. You are not forgotten.
Now it’s nearing the end of the race. We are preparing our hearts and minds to reenter back home. It’s terrifying and thrilling for us to think about what our life will look like back on our home turf. In a lot of ways, it’s like month 1 for us all over again- anticipating the entry into a seemingly foreign culture. This past year has been spent living minimally in third world countries. We will be leaving behind our now familiar way of life into a new season of adjustment and change.
We are not the same people as when we left 11 months ago. We have seen and experienced things that have molded us into the men and women we are today. We may toss around new words like “processing,” “feedback,” or “boundaries.” You will likely see us spending more time in solitude and searching for a space to have quiet time with the Lord. We might do things that we hadn’t done before the race.
But hear me when I say that just because we have changed doesn’t mean we are strangers. We still enjoy the same hobbies that we did before. We still have the humor, personality, and heart that the Lord has given us. And yes, we still love you. Our first few encounters may be strange and awkward, but that’s okay. Our interactions with you will probably look differently than it did a year ago. Relationships are always shifting, changing, and growing. When we were children, our relationship with you looked different than it did when we matured. Now we get the opportunity to walk into another season marked by learning new things about each other and we are thrilled about it!
We’re eager to tell you about how the Lord has been moving in and through us this past year. But we’re also excited to hear about your year too! We love you and can’t wait to see you soon!
