What would make me decided to delay my higher education, live out of my comfort zone, and leave friends and family for 9 months? Honestly there is one simple answer.

God.

Its funny how God will always show you that he really is in charge, and his plan is greater than yours.

For several weeks I was completely stressing about college apps, what I wanted to study, and where I planned to go. I could easily say that I wanted to study marketing and that Boston College was my dream school. But deep down it only gave me anxiety, I thought having some clue about my future would give me comfort but there was none.

My psychology teacher during one class talked to us about a program call Amigos de las Americas, which is a volunteer program in South America. I went home and looked at the website and saw they had a gap year program, and that’s the first time I considered taking a Gap Year. I thought this could be a real possibility, but I realized I couldn’t go and just volunteer. I have a passion for missions and couldn’t go and not do ministry.

So then I went on Google and searched Gap Year Mission Trips, and that’s when I found The World Race Gap Year. Immediately I saw it being a huge possibility. But I knew that it was meant to be when my parents said yes from the very beginning. I was expecting hesitation, but there was none. My mom agreed with me that I am a young senior and that there will always be an opportunity for college. She told me to go and serve my passion for missions.

So thats when God showed me, that this was in my plan. The next day I applied, and now I’m here! I couldn’t be more excited to start this adventure, with an incredible group of people. I am very eager to see how God will use me and my team to make an impact in the countries we visit!

More posts to come soon! I really appreciate all of the support and prayers from y’all!
