Three words that most women can’t seem to believe about themselves, I. Am. Beautiful.

It usually goes along the lines of,

I’m too big, I’m too small, I want curly hair, I want straight hair, Your skin is so fair, I’m too dark, I’m too pale, and the list never ends.

“Beauty is without question, the most essential and the most misunderstood of all of God’s qualities – of all feminine qualities too…. Women ache over the issue of beauty – they ache to be beautiful, to believe they are beautiful and they worry over keeping it if they can ever find it.”

The truth is that the statements above are a horrible lie from the enemy that fills the women’s mind. We women tend to want things we don’t seem to have. Last month and even in month 2 I was slowly getting revelations how the Lord thought I was beautiful and I had something to offer. I am captivating, beautiful, worth the wait and fight. The Lord wanted to romance me and pursue me in ways I never knew about myself. What the Lord has also been revealing to me is that he doesn’t want only me to have these revelations but other women too.

Now here I am a month later doing ministry in Brothels and going to Dance Bars at night telling women they have so much worth and that they are beautiful in ways they never seen themselves. See beauty is a powerful thing the Lord gave us. It’s a gift. “Beauty is the essence of God”. Just take a look at where all beauty comes from.  We see it when we look at nature, in animals, the birds in the sky, and so much more. Just think that God created all these things but He sees so much more beauty in humans.

In Nepal women don’t find themselves beautiful. They look us “foreigners” and see so much beauty but yet don’t see it in themselves because we look so different. The thing that women here don’t see is how we “foreigners” see them. If only we could see ourselves in the eyes of the Maker.  We all have a purpose, an essence, and we’re unique in our own special way. We are all created in the image of God, so each of us is different and carry a certain characteristic or trait that shows the beauty of God.

My team and I have had the privilege to meet a young missionary named Amy. Amy has been living in Nepal for 4 years. She is an incredible woman. Her mission: to tell women that no matter what they look like, no matter how they see themselves, no matter what they have done in their past. They. Are. Beautiful. She wants women to know their worth here in Nepal and her heart breaks to hear women say they don’t think they are. We are getting the privilege to work alongside her and promote her campaign. We are throwing “A Beauty Celebration” here at the Maya Guesthouse inviting most women in Pokhara. Women that we met in dance bars, brothels, at the coffee shops, and on streets. Free manipedis, mahindi art, and making flower crowns. We are washing their feet like Jesus did and making them feel beautiful. Then at the end we will take a portrait of them holding a sign that says “I am beautiful”.

 This is Amy

If you are a women and reading this, I want to challenge you. Don’t look in the mirror and look at your flaws but in other words look the inside of your soul. You are beautiful. Captivating. Worthy. Loved. Don’t look to what the world says is beautiful.  There is an almighty God who created you in HIS IMAGE. Don’t be ashamed of the women He created you to be.

“Beauty speaks. Beauty invites. Beauty nourishes. Beauty comforts. Beauty inspires. Beauty is transcendent.”

I said it before and I’ll say it again beauty is powerful. There is so much more to it than just our outward appearance. Beauty comes from within, our soul, and its gift from the Lord to us women.

All of the quotes from this post came from Captivating by Stasi and John Elderidge. I recommended any women of God to read it. Also more pictures from the event will be posted later.
