When I envisioned ministry on the world race I envisioned getting my hands dirty every day, playing with orphans, and literally feeding the hungry. What Romania taught me is that it doesn’t always look like that. I haven’t done any of those things this month.

I honestly struggled at the beginning of the month. We sat down and made a schedule for the first week and then everything we were planning on doing didn’t happen. One day we networked for a project within the church. We had to send emails to churches in other countries to hopefully get supporters. Not the most amazing day if you ask me. I honestly was just kind of over it sorta speak. I raised money to network for another church? I realized quickly where this mindset was coming from it was the enemy telling me if I’m not playing with orphans and helping the homeless then what am I doing.

I was praying about my thoughts about ministry and wrote down that I wanted to do any and everything for the Lord enthusiastically. The Lord took me to Colossians 3:23- “Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men.” Ok God I get it!! It doesn’t matter what it is I’m doing every day is ministry and everyday is for the Lord. It doesn’t matter if I’m asked to network or play with the orphans everything that I do I’m doing it for the Lord.

So what did ministry in Romania look like for me? Every Saturday Leighton and I went to a village about 15 mins away and helped with a kids club. We taught them a few songs and played games with them. It was sweet to see how excited these kids get to be there. We also went to a park and grilled chicken and just hung out with our Romanian ministry hosts one day. So that was ministry one day just grilling chicken and having fun you ask?! Yes it was. We actually got to get to know or ministry hosts better and let them have a rest day! It was so fun.

My absolute favorite thing about this month has been visiting with the widows. Sorin (one of our ministry hosts) has a small group that he hosts in his home on Fridays. This group consists of two widows: his mother and her neighbor. We got to go and sit with these ladies and share bible passages with them. They were seriously two of the sweetest ladies.

God sends us were we are needed at the present time. Ministry may not look amazing all the time. It may look like networking. It may look like a picnic in the park. It may also look like sitting and loving on two widows. But all of these things are equally important and everything I do I will do it enthusiastically for the Lord.
