Thank you for visiting my blog. I’m not sure what adventures may be in store for us, but I’m so excited for the opportunity to share this journey with you. We get to see the world together!
So, who is Caleb Estrada?
Frankly, that’s a question I’m still trying to answer for myself. Here’s what I do know: I’m a restless 27 year old guy from the Midwest with a big heart and an insatiable wanderlust. I’ve spent a ton of time spinning my wheels chasing the life I’ve envisioned for myself while neglecting the fact that my vision may not coincide with God’s plan. So here I am, ready to submit and praying that God will use me. How? I have no idea, but that’s part of the fun.
I’ve always been a dreamer and had a thirst for adventure and exploration. For as long as I can remember I’ve been obsessed with the movie, “Hook.” I also love the “Goonies,” “Indiana Jones,” and most other Spielberg movies. I really can’t explain it, but there has always been something about lost treasures, evil pirates, unexplored territory and high sea adventures that has always appealed to me. Though this may not be my reality, I always try to live my life and see the world with a little extra whimsy.
That’s not to say I’ve completely lost any sense of reality. Growing up as the grandson of a Minister/Counselor, nephew of a Case Worker and son of a Social Worker, I was exposed to some rather harsh realities at a pretty early age and developed a passion for the underdog. Although I didn’t really think of myself as the underdog growing up, it’s taken me a long time to realize that I can be the hero of my own story. I’m looking forward to sticking up for the little guy, showing compassion and spreading God’s love.
Ridding the world of injustice won’t be easy, but I enjoy problem solving and LOVE PUZZLES!!! Now, I’m not talking about the jigsaw kind. (Those are ok too) I’m referring to brain games. At my core I’m a gamer. Whether I’m working alone or as a cooperative team, I love strategy. Card Games, Board Games, Video Games, it doesn’t matter. I can’t get enough. Most of my closest friendships have blossomed from the relationships formed while gaming, and they continue to be a big part of my life.
I guess to sum it up, I’m a big nerd and big kid. Ideally someday I’ll find my Neverland, become some Batman-esque caped crusader who stands up for the little guy by solving puzzles. Until then I’m ready to explore. I want to see the world, experience different cultures and strengthen my relationship with God.
I hope that you, the reader, and I can have some fun along the way. I encourage you to give feedback and ask questions. I really want to get to know you, your story and how we may relate. Over the coming months I’ll be relying heavily on all of you for emotional, spiritual, and financial support. I’m so encouraged at the level of love and support that I have received from perfect strangers.
Much Love,
Caleb Estrada
