My team went into this month seeing how different this new team was from our last team. We aimed to make the team “fresh” in the way we interacted with each other, the ways we experienced God’s love, and how we saw ourselves.
Many of us experienced a level of joy that we hadn’t yet faced in our teams. Many of us experienced a new level of freedom in being ourselves – however goofy and awkward that may be.
It’s been beautiful to see it played out.
But it has nothing to do with our old teams. God did incredible, life-changing things in our old teams that we now get to walk in.
Joy is a choice as I am now finding out. Still working on the logistics of that, but it is a choice.
Every day our team meets together to talk about our day and give each other feedback. Sometimes it’s positive feedback where we get to call out each other for ways they were walking in God’s truth with a Kingdom mindset. Other times, we give constructive feedback where we call out greatness in each other that we are not yet walking in for some reason or another.
I went into this month with my mind focused on Joy and Freedom.
I started only giving positive feedback. I avoided the constructive feedback because I was afraid the joy would go away.
And then God showed me how much we need the constructive feedback in order to be truly joyful.
How much do I have to hate my teammates to let them keep walking in lies?
God has something better for them and at times, He uses me (and my other teammates) to call it out.
So, for those going on the Race soon and for those at home avoiding conflict in the name of “joy,” I encourage you to step out in boldness and faith and allow God to use you. He may give you specific insights, so be bold and call it out.
Someone’s life is depending on it.
