You might be at World Race Training Camp if:

-You’ve spent 7 days only using port potties
– Ear plugs and baby wipes are your best friends
– You walk into a restaurant and don’t think twice about having dried mud on your feet
– You know how to take an ice cold shower out of a bucket
– You’ve worn the same 2 pants and 3 shirts for the past week
– You keep all your essentials in a daypack “just in case” something happens to your pack
– You use items in different ways. I.e. Socks as mittens; shirts as tissues or towels; backpacks
     as pillows
– Dance parties are a regular occurrence
– You can relate to the TV show “Lost”
– Bugs, hair and dirt are in your food and are no excuse to not eat it
– Sleeping in your own tent by yourself is a miracle
– Coffee and pink lemonade are unexpected luxuries
– You use gum as toothpaste
– Wearing Chacos with socks is common AND fashionable
– Your perfume is mildew and sweat from three days ago
– Being able to leave camp with your team means going to Walmart, getting free samples of cheese sticks and walking through the aisles to look at all the food you want but don’t have room in your daypack to buy

– You fall in love with a group of unique people that truly love the Lord with everything they have. They become family. You experience the fullness of God’s love for you and readily lay hands on your new family to pray for them. You are constantly blessed by the community and support of your squadmates who make light of harsh realities. You laugh, cry, dance, and grow with these Divinely appointed children of the Most High.

Training camp was the hardest, most amazing and spiritually healing week of my life thus far! God did and is doing incredible things and I’m humbled to be part of His story. He’s placed beautiful community in my life over this week. It’s only been 29 hours since I’ve seen them and my heart hurts from missing them so much. 79 days until we launch! January 6, 2015!
