There have been a few beautiful times this year where I couldn’t help but fall head over heels for a child.

It happened Month 1 in The Philippines, his name is Caleb and he is 8 years old. He was confined to a wheel chair or his crib due to the severe scoliosis and disfigurement of his bones. He has the biggest smile I’ve ever seen and you would swear by just looking at his beautiful face that he has the greatest life ever. Instead he lives in an orphanage with 20+ other kids and cannot walk. Holding his small body in my arms and signings songs with him was some of my favorite times that month. I love him and can’t wait to see him again.

It happened again Month 7 in Zimbabwe, his name is Kistofo and he is 10 years old. He was also confined to a wheel chair due to severe scoliosis and all of his friends would push him around wherever he needed to go. He also had eyes that were lit up with joy and excitement even amidst his difficult circumstances. Whenever I saw him I loved being able to sit next to him and play hand games and push his chair around during game times.

Again, it happened Month 8 in Bulgaria, his name is Delcho and he is one of the children I told you about in another blog. He is 11 years old and is blind and deaf in one ear, he also suffers from muscle atrophy. I would sit with this boy for hours upon hours and he would lean against my chest and feel the vibration from my words while I sang. Love you little Delcho.

This month I was blessed to once again see Jesus through the eyes of a child.

Her name is Naomi and she is one of the children living here in Romania. She comes from a poor home and is very shy and hesitant to take part in any activities. Last week was a Kids camp at the church and she attended with her brother and sat in silence for most of the games and teaching. One day though, I got to sit next to her while others played Duck Duck Goose and she smiled at me hesitantly. I just sat in silence with her for awhile until she took hold of my hand and told me her name was Naomi and she’s 7 years old. I told her my name and age and then she launched into a couple of her favorite bible stories about Jesus (Jesus coming as a baby in a manger & Jesus walking on water) I didn’t even know what to say…I just sat there smiling and thanking God that even in a shy, 7 year old, Romanian girl, He is alive and speaking through her.

Jesus told His disciples to let the little children come to Him because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those such as them.

Thank you God for the beautiful reminders of Your Word.
