If you’re anything like me, you’re a bit of a control freak. The fact that no one is really telling you what the agenda for training camp is driving you crazy! You need to get over it. You don’t need to plan for everything, sometimes it’s better that you don’t know what’s coming next.

The first thing you need to do is lose your expectations. This is not going to be the week you think it is; in some ways it’s going to be harder, it’s going to be easier, and it’s going to be better than you could possibly imagine.

During training camp, I experienced pain, I was uncomfortable and I was pushed beyond my limits. I was more physically tired than I’ve been in a long time. But my spirit found rest. I had the chance to unpack my baggage at the feet of Jesus. I found comfort in the arms of my Heavenly Father and I swam in His river of love.

Some nights you might go to bed with an empty stomach, but if you open yourself up to receive what God has for you, you will never go to bed with an empty heart.

Your team might not be who you think they should be, but they will be who you need them to be. Have a good attitude and trust that God has your best interest at heart. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” Says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” God knows what He’s doing. Trust Him and pray that He will give you the grace to see people the way that He sees them.

Most importantly, stay present; even when it feels like the days are dragging on and you’re not sure you can make it through the week. It’s going to be hard, but it’s going to be beautiful. You’re going to walk away from this week changed and it’s going to be over before you know it.

God has great things in store for you, but it’s your choice whether or not you receive them.
