2 Peter 1:16

“For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes. “

For we saw the majesty of Jesus displayed before our own eyes…how do you see that?

Okay so confession time.. Before this question was proposed to me last month, I had it all wrong. I would pray in the mornings before we went to the schools and I would ask God to let the kids and teachers see Him when they saw us, to see His glory, and to let us be a light for Him..not a bad prayer at all but I could have been praying for MORE. You see by praying that each morning I got so caught up in us being the light that I forgot to look for His face in my own daily life. I forgot to look for the God moments where I too could see how bright His light is shining through others. So when asked the question how have I seen Gods majesty, I had no clue how to answer. Yeah, I knew God was moving in Costa Rica I could see that much but I hadn’t really taken the time to truly see His glory in each day.. So then my prayers changed, not only was I praying for the kids to see Him but I was also praying for me to see Him. To see His glory, to see His face each day and to see His majesty displayed before my own eyes. And he showed up!

I saw the majesty of Jesus in..
• Rosa, our cook for the month who served us lunch every day with a big smile on her face
• In a teacher at school who during recess would teach the kids how to salsa dance for fun, pray with them in class and teach them bible verses So that when bad things come the children can remember the good
• In the kids who would come to the feeding center laughing and just full of joy even though that may be their only meal of the day
• In the kids at school who would run up to us with big smiles and give us hugs when they come from abusive homes.
•In the parents who give an offering at church each Sunday when they aren’t even sure if they’ll be able to put food on the table that week
• In the families who would literally run to their doors just to wave at us as we walked by
• In our hosts, Mark and Meg, who sold everything and moved to Los Guidos 12 years ago to love on children and share the gospel with them…And also just in the way they served us through out the month, taking the time to get to know us and challenge us to grow deeper in our relationship with God
• In the 12 year old boy, Joseph, who for his birthday asked for a passport so he can go and do mission work and who also wants to be a pastor one day (we got to hear his testimony and oh my goodness the things that he is going to do for the Kingdom! Unreal! Can’t wait to see all the things God does through him)
• In Holly, the dog at the Finca, who had 11 beautiful puppies ( 11 counties, 11 months, 11 puppies ??)
• In machos, the puppy at the Finca, who would come jump all over me during my morning prayer.
•In the people on my squad who would encourage me daily and make me feel loved and welcomed
•In the guys on our squad who would go out of their way to protect us each day
•In our squad leaders who serve us day in and day out and take the time to ask how each of us is doing

I could seriously go on for days on how much I saw God this past month in Costa Rica. Los Guidos is one of the most dangerous slums in all of Central America but I never once felt scared. Instead I left the slums at the end of the month filled with so much joy and heartbreak for having to leave there. A piece of my heart will forever stay there and I’m so grateful that God counted me worthy to see His majesty displayed there and to fight on the battlefield for victory in His name over Los Guidos.

So I want to leave you with this challenge, something that my team and I do daily now… I want to challenge you to look for the majesty of Jesus each day. Ask yourself, How did you see God today? I promise you He’s there, all you have to do is ask and He will reveal himself to you!
