Hello friends and family! It’s been a while since I posted a blog. I want to update you on my life, how re-entry has been going and what some future plans are.
I returned to Canada at the end of July and volunteered for 2 weeks at my church’s Bible Camp. I then worked for 1.5 weeks for my brother roofing houses. I left that to go back to my old job doing lawn irrigation. I really enjoy my job and the people I work with, so being back was a blessing! Because it’s a seasonal job, I am now doing snow removal. This looks like getting up at weird hours and shovelling, blowing (with a leaf blower) and sweeping (with a machine with big brush) the snow from sidewalks.
When I first got back I was living with my dad, but a few weeks ago he moved and and my younger brother moved in. This has been really awesome because we have wanted to do life together for some time now. I’ve been printing some of our favourite photos to put up around the house to make our house our own unique home. It been actually quite enjoyable.
I have been leading a Young Adults group at my home church. We meet on Wednesday nights at someone’s house. Each night around 8-12 people show up to talk about our weeks, study the Bible, listen to Jesus and pray for one another. I am really loving it!
Currently I am in Georgia at the Adventures in Missions base. I came for a weekend retreat to talk with World Race Alumni and AIM leadership about how to create community after the Race. It was an amazing time meeting new people, building old relationships, and dreaming with them of how to advance the Kingdom of God! I will be returning home full of hope and excitement to build God’s Kingdom!
What I see my future looking like for the next year is getting planted in my home town of Grande Prairie. I’ll be continuing working to make money and live, be leading the Young Adults group and establishing my house to be a home where love can be experienced and tangibly felt. I also am wanting to lead a group of people passionate about evangelism throughout my city, as well as intentionally disciple 2-3 guys individually. I don’t know what it’s going to look like, but I’m learning as I go.
God gave me a picture before coming home of a tree in a pot. I was the tree and God was moving me around from place to place. I needed the pot for the last season in order to grow, but for me to keep growing, God needs to take me out of the pot and plant me in the ground. A tree in a pot is limited in its growth. So re-entry has been learning what it means to take roots somewhere and invest in a place for a longer period of time. Finally after being home for 3.5 months, I feel like roots have taken to the soil.
I have been blessed with an amazing community of believers who are passionate about God and desire to follow Him with their whole lives. I have amazing leaders in my life investing in me. God is faithful and is providing all my needs. I am so grateful for all that the Lord has done in my life in this season and have a huge expectancy for what is to come! In this Kingdom we go from glory to glory and get to live an abundant life. I pray for whoever is reading this that God would fuel your fire as you give your life away. He is awesome!
I am still in need of funds for my last trip. The numbers above are not fully accurate. The system is still updating, but I have roughly $2000 Canadian Dollars left to fundraise. If you feel led to support me in this, you can make a donation by clicking the “Donate” button at the top of the page. Thanks so much!
