I’ve been walking my dog (that might wear an apple green, mini hoodie) frequently, eating cereal and watching Youtube for a month. Aka, I’ve been home for a month.

I’ve seen amazing things. Things, both horrific and stunning, that took my breath away. I’ve seen our utterly gigantic God do things that seemed impossible. I have a new family of 23 people scattered around the world.

I was not prepared for the “mission” work I would witness when I got home. Six months ago my mother told me her plan to donate a kidney to a personal training client, a lady she barely knew, but that was in the early stages and I knew there were many hurdles ahead before it became a reality. It would come up nearly every time we talked, however it seemed still very unlikely to me. She asked me and my team to pray so we did, and time went on. I traveled to new countries. I did new things and had more experiences.

On December 1st, 10 days after saying final goodbyes to other family, my mom was in a sterile hospital gown, surrounded by nurses and doctors, and wore a vibrant green wrist band that said one of her kidneys was meant for a new home in another body. Surgery went incredibly well and the kidney sprang to life within seconds of being attached to Cynthia, the recipient.

Organ donation is one, if not the most dramatic acts of love. Once someone was dying, withering and now, they have new life. My mom did not do this because it made her feel good or made her popular. She lost sleep, she cried and she was uncomfortable and at the same time He gave her peace, He calmed her fears and He comforted her. My mom sought to bring more of the Kingdom into this world and she did it with what she had: herself. And that’s “mission” work.

Cynthia and my mom gave me permission to film their story. Please watch it and share it.
