HELLO AGAIN & WELCOME BACK!
I haven’t blogged in quite awhile, forgive me!
It’s been quite the change from growing up in California to now living in Georgia!
As many of you remember I did the World Race in 2014 and soon after coming home I joined an internship program with Adventures In Missions (ADV) in 2015. Thank you all once again who supported me through either of those =)
Throughout my internship, I was curious to what I would pursue & ultimately where I would live next. Would it be doing missions overseas because I love it?! Would it be going back to beautiful So Cal to be closer to my friends and family because they are the best?! What it be something not involving either?!
What happened next caught me by complete surprise
Logan was the previous “Director of Media” at ADV. Mid-July Logan informs me that he is transitioning to a different missions organization in three months. I didn’t even think of inquiring about his position that would soon be open. Director of Media was not on my radar at all. He proposes that I get more training from him and that I fill that position when he leaves. His last three months at ADV was also the last three months of my internship.
His last three months were my last three months
LOCO!
Time wise it matched up perfectly, full-time job, and continuing to work with ADV, but was that enough? It would mean officially moving to da South! It would mean NOT moving overseas to pursue missions for at least a year or two. And NOT being with my family for another year at the least.
I had some praying & consulting to do with my friends, family, and mentors.
Of course, it wasn’t with a lot of notice (3 months) nor involving me to have a background in audio engineering. No no no. The closest thing to live sound (bands) and events I had was ten years of mobile DJ experience.
Which in a way made me be the man that is willing to be a Master of Ceremony that has to rock a party and be willing to possibly fail in front of hundreds of people…
LIVE
That is something you can’t teach. In my experience, you have to grow in that and have to walk in the confidence you have in that craft.
Disclaimer: I do not fully endorse the social media quote “He (God) does not call the equipped. But equips the called”. Oh so God just hangs up the phone once you’ve been equipped and moves on to another prayer line? Naaaaw
God will call on his children to possibly do things they have never done ( i.e. pray for the blind, deaf, crippled, sick…etc). As a result, we must lean on Him through it all and not on our own understanding or past experiences. But will continue to call on those He equips & entrusts to carry out His work.
You don’t have to be equipped to be called but if God is equipping you
Best believe that phone will ring
(steps off soapbox)
When my internship ended in September I flew home, packed up my things and my car and drove across the country to start work at ADV in Gainesville, GA the following month. I don’t think Mom was too excited to hear I’m coming home only to pack and leave in two weeks because I’m Officially moving to GA. When my license and license plates no longer say California it’s #official
This October 2017 marks two years and seven months in GA!
Thank you all for reaching out to me and continuing to invest in my life!
Love RAF!
