Very laid back, cool, humble guy.

He was a great host.

1. How did God call you to Nicaragua?

I came to Minagua to do mission work. Then traveled to Popoyo to surf. 

 

2. What is a project you are currently working on?

An open air market in Las Selinas as well as working on my own property [which will be home base for Waves of Love]

 

3. What is your vision?

A stable community.

 

4.When was Waves of Love established? 

2010

 

5. How did you come up with the name “Waves of Love”?

A friend referred it. 

 

6. What is the biggest need in the community? 

Clean water because of the drought as well as nutrition. They don’t eat much meat here, mainly rice and beans.

 

7. What is the biggest need in Waves of Love?

Volunteers. Every non profit needs finances but the Lord always provides. Therefore teams and volunteers to help with projects is number 1. 

 

8. What are some projects/services Waves of Love does in Nicaragua? 

Building homes, outhouses, adding rooms to schools…  

Currently a huge job undertaking a open air market. It is currently on hold due to community council issues. When this market is completed it will provide twenty two families with jobs. 

 

9. What has been some of the hardest obstacles you have had to overcome as the founder of Waves of Love?

1 – Telling people no. A lot of people ask for money. 

2 – People who ask for projects to be done for them. (Such as housing) – but do not understand that priority goes to those who are in need the most. (Those living in the worst conditions)

 

10. How has your family life changed as a result of being a missionary?

Changed mainly [my] faith in the Lord. Also we have grown closer to my family since we spend much more time together [serving together]. Which has given them a better prospective on life.

 

11. How many teams have come to serve with you this year? 

10 -12 teams. 1 team of 20.

 

12. Where are you originally from?

CoCo Beach Florida

 

13. How were you received initially by the community in Nicaragua?

Initially building relationships were slow. Building trust took a couple of years. 

 

14. What would you like to see happen within in the next 5 years?

1. I would love to see everyone out of the black plastic homes.

2. For the community to stop dumping garbage every where.

 

15. How many years have you been surfing? 

36 years

 

16. What would you rate surfing here in Nicaragua and Popoyo?

It was rated top 5 in the world by surfing magazine.

 

17. How many children do you have?

Three -2 boys who are 20 & 18. 1 daughter who is 15.
