I have arrived safely and soundly in Gainesville, Georgia to start the next season of my life at CGA. The weather is nice, no snow, yet with a little chill in the air. I am living in what we call the Grove Home with seven other girls and Bill, Katie and Max Swan. It’s a quaint little home with an open floor plan and high lofted ceilings. Its inviting, loving and giving atmosphere. Yet this is also where you can be real and raw, pushed and challenged, and loved. This is the community that I get to live with for the next four months of this journey.
The workspace is even more so like this. At Adventures In Missions, the atmosphere is invigorating, welcoming, and loving. I feel at home here, even though I just met most of the people. I feel safe. How many times can we actually say that you feel safe in the work environment? My work week is split, meaning in the mornings I am doing my leadership track where right now we are reading a book called “A Tale of Three Kings” by Gene Edwards (which I recommend you all read). Then after lunch I go and work in the department I am blessed to intern with called Kingdom Journeys. I am their main marketing person and working on revamping their website, creating new marketing strategies for their social media, and just getting the word out about KJ, while also helping with recruiting for trips and gain knowledge of what we are doing.
What is Kingdom Journeys you may ask? Well it is a missions trip that is six months, three countries, with one purpose. It takes driven and passionate World Race Alumni and helps make their Kingdom dreams come to fruition. KJ is the vehicle to bring your kingdom dream to life. There are men’s teams and women’s teams. Here are the “mission statements” for the men and women’s teams.
KJ Men’s Teams: Our mission is to live a recklessly abandoned life for Christ. We will establish new limits on the bonds of brotherhood and build them in the places that we go. We will pioneer the gospel in closed countries, plant churches in nations hungry for His presence, and take the A-T-L lifestyle to the next level.
KJ Women’s Teams: Our mission is to proclaim freedom and redemption to our sisters around the world. We reach out to widows, former prostitutes, the abused, abandoned and overlooked. We invite them to our “Beauty for Ashes Retreats” where we empower them to experience God’s restoration and hope through storytelling and community.
