My son,
It has been amazing go to see you transform into the man I have always created you to be. To see where you once were to now is a lifetime of change. You are talented and bold. You are strong and courageous. Know this my son, no matter what the world around you may say or think, know that I, your heavenly father am proud of you. I am looking down at you and saying “that’s my boy!” Keep seeking me and pushing deeper into me for in me and through me is where your true courage and strength is.
In Exodus 15:3 it says “….the LORD is a warrior the LORD is his name!” And you are the son of the great warrior and therefore are too! Because the son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God! How cool is that? Just think about that for a moment and say to yourself “I am a son of God and I am a mighty warrior!” To borrow Walter Brueggemann’s description of God: “Wild, dangerous, unfettered and free.” You are the same and at the same time you are passionate, humble, creative, wise, and loving.
You are created in the image of ME and I don’t know what you are thinking when you hear that, and I bet most of the time that doesn’t sound too encouraging. So the question I want to pose to you is, what is your image of my son, Jesus when he was a man? Go ahead write it down and see what you come up with. Because, while yes he is loving, kind, healer, friend. He also is a fighter, a warrior, bold, brave, strong, and dangerous. Remember while I am good, I also am not safe (reference to C.S. Lewis). The world that I have created is the same, it is good but it is also is not safe. Yet this is the world that I made, because it requires you to live with risk. Because I want you to live by faith.
Are you willing to live with the level of risk I am inviting you to? I am inviting you to be a bold and a dangerous warrior. To take risks, to fall down on your face, to be picked up and try again; all the while I am right there with you saying “keep going, keep fighting, keep on the adventure I have you on.” You have what it takes, I have given it all to you! I see the strength I have planted in you, but you need to discover that strength too! For remember you can do all things through me!
Yes, my son you are a leader, a warrior, an encourager, a fighter, a bold man whom I have created! Do not believe the lie that you aren’t. I also created you to be kind, loving and willing to serve in many capacities. So, do not believe the lie that you aren’t. In fact stop believing any lies that the enemy has planted in you and turn to the truth that is found in me alone! You have done so well my son, now lets continue on and fight the good fight together and push on towards the goal, and discover the complete warrior I have created you to be.
