My God Ate my Homework (Part 1)

“You’ve met with God, haven’t you?” She proclaimed, “I can tell!”

Coming from one of the most powerful women of God that I know, and a spiritual leader I immensely respect, that was incredible to hear.

I had met with God. I had spent time in His presence.

Training camp felt like going up on Mount Sinai and meeting with God in all his power and glory.

But when Salli could tell that there was a difference, I was both encouraged and humbled.

Encouraged to know that my meeting with God was legitimate. Encouraged to know that a Godly woman for whom I have the utmost respect had validated my experiences with God through the sensitivity of her spirit. Encouraged to know that God’s presence had left its mark on me, and, prayerfully/hopefully, left me a more Godly man.

I was humbled to see the directness with which this woman and God commune. I simply approached her, and immediately she could sense the Spirit’s work. Wow! I long to be that in tune with Him. I crave it. I was also humbled beyond belief to think of Moses’ veiled face after he returned from God’s presence–the residual majesty and glory with which Moses shone after he met with God. To even consider for the briefest of moments that that same glory and majesty that had Moses’ face alight was exuding from me is mind blowing! I too had met with the Great I AM. I too had spent time in His presence. I too have received a calling and anointing to bring His people to His Kingdom.

It’s overwhelming.

I’m basically holding back tears at the beauty of it even now as I write it.

Just like Moses, I have a treacherous past. Just like Moses, I have some crazy family junk. Just like Moses, I am afraid and unworthy.

But the same God that met with Moses and set his face on fire with Holy Glory has also chosen me, met with me, and set me afire.

Mind you, all this happened before I even got in the door of Ye Holy Starbucks! I had a good bit of homework due the next morning, too. In fact, I was leaving early to head back to school in the hopes that having nothing else to do would force me to complete said homework. What with this being the last quarter of my senior year and all, homework has a newfound importance–and a newfound impossibility–to it.

My original plan had been to simply drive through, but I knew I had to go in whenever I saw the car of my Mentor, Bobby, in the parking lot.

I could tell before I even went inside the store that this was going to be a long evening of sitting in awe of Him.
