A few of the Albanian youths we’ve been hanging out with from the church wanted to take us to the zoo today. I invited along 2 girls (Ana and Ina) Anna and I have been teaching English to that we’ve become quite fond on.
During our English classes we teach anything from simple words to sentence structure, grammar, vocabulary, and conversational English. While teaching we always try to incorporation seeds of Truth whether it’s giving a sentence example: “I am going to church” or in practice conversation: “Today I read my Bible. What did you do today?”
At the end of class we always pray with our students and our girls said they liked when we prayed for them and that they wanted to learn. Excitedly, the door opened us for us to talk briefly about God and prayer. We gave them each an Albanian/English Bible to take home that they were eager to read.
On our way to the zoo (a very long walk), it began to rain. Not ideal weather, but what can ya do. During our walk I got to talk to Ana and Ina for a long time and explain more about Jesus, faith, and the gospel with them! While they understand better than they can speak, I blabbed their ears off with joy talking about Jesus and the full life He’s given me and the salvation that comes through Him (not to mention, the whole reason I’m in Albania in the first place!). They listened intently and with reception. Ana said during our conversation that before she didn’t think much about God or have an interest but since meeting us she is very interested and is enjoying learning about Him through us. Praise God!
Teaching English isn’t my thing. Walking around in the cold rain with soaked Toms isn’t my thing. But if these are the “things” that allow me to share my passion for life through Jesus- then heck yeah God, bring it!
