The World Race has officially begun.
We travel in masses. We carry at least 50lbs worth of gear on our bodies. We are stared at wherever we go. There’s no longer a thing called personal space. We share. We laugh. We go with the flow. We sleep in unnatural positions. But live and travel with a purpose.
We lifted off from American at exactly 12:35 pm on Tuesday and arrived at our destination in China on Friday at 10am. Rebekah, Kara, and I literally sobbed as we left off from American soil. Not because we were sad, but because we were overjoyed that THIS is actually happening. This thing we’ve been praying over, preparing for, dreaming about, and raising thousands of freaking dollars for months straight is actually taking flight.
After 17 hours in plane rides, 19 hour train ride, 1 layover, 1 hostel, 1 subway, 1 bus we finally settled in our BLESSED apartment overlooking the city of Harbin at 10am on Friday.
We then caught up on some much-needed sleep, had some yummy Chinese food, and met our amazing contacts that we’re partnering with for the remainder of this month.
They are two Americans who have lived here for quite a few years and have planted a couple churches and started a college ministry. These two guys are super passionate about the gospel and reaching the lost of this city. Those who weren’t passed out yesterday afternoon got to head over and meet some of the college students and start building relationships with them. The Chinese are SO excited we are here and we’re equally excited to get to know and love them!
We have the weekend to rest and then we’ll dive in on Monday with our ministry. Ever since we’ve arrived I’ve tried to pray over every person I see whether it be our bus driver, translator, random person on the street, or contact. My heart has reached out to this country for so many years and I never want it to stop. I can’t wait to see first hand how our God is working and how I get to physically be a part of it!
Please be praying for the Chinese people we’ll be in contact with, my team (Uniquely Knit), and our contacts as all 45 of us bombard them in Jesus’ name!
The only thing that’s gone wrong so far is I ate an apple with a worm in it.
Happy World Race!
Luke 4:18-19, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me,? because he has anointed me? to proclaim good news to the poor. ?He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners? and recovery of sight for the blind, ?to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."
