Month 3?!!! Wow, where has the time gone? As I type this, I am sitting in a hotel in Qatar – after a month each in both South Africa and Swaziland, two nights of airport camping, adjusting to living in community (and I mean lots of it
), and a long flight from Johannesburg, South Africa. From here (we’re only in Qatar because of a 22-hour layover) – in just a few short hours – we’re headed to Hyderabad, India, where our squad will disperse to the individual teams’ ministry locations. We have no idea where exactly in India our team will be. Cool, huh? I think so.
In any case, it’s all under control (obviously not mine). But you know what? It’s a lot like our World Race finances. We have no idea how our finances will come, no idea where, from whom, or anything else, except that it’s all under control. I should actually probably capitalize it so it says Control.
You know where I’m going with this. It is our belief that God called us to the World Race. Yes, it still is. All 11 months of it. And it is also our belief that when and where God calls, He equips. So it’s “God’s will, His bill.” He has it all under control. We have no doubt that God is bigger than our problems, and we have no doubt that He will release the funds necessary to keep us on the Race. In fact, people have been prophesying over our squad, that there will soon be a “flood” of finances into all of our accounts.
Stephanie and I have been extremely blessed. Many people have been generous with their donations, giving what they can, whether or not it amounts to much. Also, since our decision to sell everything in our house, we have gained a huge amount of money. At one point in time when we were selling our possessions, we profited $6,000 in 3 days. $6,000 in 3 days! Between selling our car, Stephanie’s engagement ring, various household items, and 2 big donations, we not only met our deadline that was 2 days overdue at the time, we also met the next deadline, which is at the end of this month in India.
We currently have $22,770 in our World Race account. That means we only have $9,800 to go! Since we’ve already met our next deadline, our last deadline is July 1, when we have to have the full amount of $32,570.
If you would like an idea of where all this money goes, visit my squadmate Harris Richie’s blog for a minute – http://harrisrichie.theworldrace.org/?filename=wr-breakdown-of-cost-where-does-your-money-go. Keep in mind that the financial numbers are doubled since Stephanie and I are married – there are two of us, you know. Also, one thing left out of these numbers and percentages is international health insurance, which just recently started being added to the World Race accounts for fundraising. Of course, where the real money from donations actually goes in the end will vary slightly from these graphs, but these are a pretty accurate picture of what we do with the money.
Here’s one important thing to consider – $32,570 is not a lot of money for two people to live on in the U.S. for a year, let alone when you’re traveling to 11 different countries! We don’t live extravagantly. Our lodging is usually bare minimum (think $4-7 per person per day) and our food not much better ($4 per person per day). As a team treasurer, I have worked with our budgets, and I can tell you that we make a little money go a long way.
We would ask once again that you consider partnering with us financially. If God has blessed you, consider being a blessing to others. You will have treasure in heaven, and your money will not be wasted. If you would like to bless us, click the Support Me link above or the Empower Us link to the left. If you would rather send a check in the mail, write one out to Adventures in Missions, put my name, Cody Stutzman, in the memo (VERY important), and send it to:
