While on the world race, I’ve spent a lot of time of roofs. In India, the church we stayed at had a roof that was flat, and there were steps leading up to it. It was just the norm to spend time on the roof. In Nepal, while my team was spending time in Kathmandu at the end of the month, there was a roof on the top of our hostel that I really liked to spend time on. That also was flat and was set up as a place for people to just hang out. Here in Nepal, there is also a roof that is easily accessible. It just seems to be part of south-east Asia culture to have a roof available for leisure.
While spending time on each of these roofs, God has romanced me and revealed to me his love. This has made roofs a significant part of my race. So, I decided to write a song about it. I recorded it and put it on youtube if you want to check it out. The lyrics are below.
Thank you so much for reading my blogs! Please continue to pray for my squad and me. Pray for me as Paul asked the Ephesians to pray for him, “that words may be given to me so I may fearlessly make known the mystery of the Gospel” (Ephesians 6:19). That is what we all need the most.
Verse 1
Well the rooftops of Asia have figured me out/ As they laugh at a jealous sky/ Who for once in a lifetime would like to be held/ So I lift up my hands and try
Chorus
And then I close my eyes/ I pray I’ll see your face/ Pray for your embrace/ To captivate all their hearts/ And carry them to who you are
Verse 2
Now the children are crying while the mourners are laughing/ And healing is only a nod/ So they come and they stare/ As we fight with the air/ To speak truth with an essence of God
Verse 3
Here are now we invite you in/ To change us from within/ Purify our hearts/ To reflect in us who you are
