Man. It has only been six days here at our ministry location.

Let me tell you.

It feels like we’ve been here at least two years.

Launch in D.C. was a lifetime ago. And home? Ha! Home is like it never happened. That month-long break between training camp and leaving for launch is like a dream that went by overnight.

This is normal. This is what they told me. Months one through four are going to go super slow, but starting in month five, the months will fly by.

It’s been difficult adjusting. I’m definitely struggling with a few things. Today, it’s bugs.

I usually don’t have any issues with bugs. No, I’m not a big fan of them (unless they’re big, exotic and in a place for me to take a picture of them), ESPECIALLY when they’re flying all over me and my stuff.

We woke up this morning to about two million wings of bugs covering the floor of the church, and, no, I’m not exaggerating. They come into the church around 8 or 9 and stay for a half hour, fly or climb towards the light, then die. That half hour is a little taste of Hell. Having bugs fly straight at you, into your clothes, in your mouth, ears, and up your nose, it’s absolutely annoying and upsetting.

Our whole team got back from ministry, and just wanted to relax before dinner. We came into the church, set out our sleeping pads, and got attacked. I went outside, but they were there too. It’s just the whole feeling of being helpless and not in control. We were all struggling with that today.

Pastor has noticed it, too. Even at church today, he complimented us on dealing with the bugs.

I’m not a girlie girl. Bugs don’t bother me usually. I’m done complaining. It’s all part of the process.

I’ve been struggling in other ways than bugs. Some I’ve written about in other blogs. My team is really struggling with food. I think personally that the food is amazing, and don’t have an issue, but I think I’m the only one. It’s a lot of the same food every day. And some people are having a difficult time getting nutrients from or even stomaching the food.

Every day is a new challenge.

But I’ve counted up the cost, and you are worth it.
