I just wanted to tell you a funny story.

I went camping last night at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in South Florida. I went with Impact Leadership Team, a club that I'm a part of at my school. There were about 50 of us, probably more. Elaina, my roommate, and I got there about three hours late because we were taking Christmas roommate pictures with all the girls from our house. Here's the one that we ended up getting:

So, anyways, we got to camp three hours late. Everyone had already set up their spacious, huge, four or five person tents. Elaina and I decided it would be best to set ours up before it was pitch black, so as the sun was setting, we set up my brand new tent. Background on the tent: I got it specifically for the World Race, and it just came in three days ago, shipped to me from REI. It had stunk when it came to my house. I don't know why, but it really stunk bad. But, it was going to be used eventually, so we thought it would just be best to set it up.

So, I set out the footprint.

And almost died laughing.

The footprint is the size of a twin-size mattress. How in the world were Elaina and I both going to fit in there? But we proceeded anyway. Before I continue, let me also tell you that REI said that this was a two-person tent, which is why Elaina and I were going to share it. So, we set it up. And I threw my sleeping bag in there. And, oh dear me, it took up the whole tent floor.

But, we were determined.

Elaina threw hew sleeping bag in there too. And we decided not to worry about it until later.

We went to join our friends; we cooked over the campfire and sang songs to the guitar. Then we played Bok Bok. I'm not sure if you've played – or even heard of – Bok Bok. I just looked it up to see if I could get you a good desciption, and this is what I got:

Bok-bok is a very dangerous game … It's banned in schools as it can result in broken backs as well as limbs, teeth and noses.

Haha, oh dear. Yes, that's what we played. Check out more posts about it here.

I don't know why my Christian school wanted to play this game that could have resulted in injuries, but we did. We had two guys teams and two girls teams. We didn't want to mix genders because it's like leap frog, and that could get awkward.

Well, here's the long and the short of it: my team won… and no one had any real injuries. I'd call that a successful game. Soon after, it was time to sleep. Actually, I went to sleep about two hours before Elaina. So, I got my sleeping bag, shoved it as far into the corner as possible, and fell asleep. Strangely, it worked. My tent held both of us, and I wasn't even aware that she was there. I wish I had a picture. I'll get one eventually. Then you'll laugh when you see it, and ask how it was possible for us both to fit.

So, I write all this to say that camping was fun, I'm glad I got to use my tent and I'm excited about using it on the World Race, and I'm also looking forward teaching my team Bok Bok.
