Luke:

“Teach us to count the days, teach us to make the days count.”

These lyrics from a Chris Rice song sometimes enter my mind here. We all have a certain number of days we get to spend here on this Earth. None of us know how many we will get. It could be a lot and it could be very few, but I think the part that matters most is that we make our days count!

Since being on the World Race I’ve been forced to take a hard look at how I spent my days while back in the US and if I’m honest, a lot of them were wasted. Wasted on living purely for myself. Wasted on entertaining myself to death and not giving God a chance to speak.

So now I’m many miles away and put in a situation where entertainment is harder to find and opportunities to serve others, instead of myself, are readily available. I have already seen God’s hand at work in my life and in the lives of many others. My prayer is that God would teach me to truly live like today might be my last day. I suppose being in 11 different countries makes death a little more of a fear but then today we heard that back in Colorado 12 people were killed at a movie premier. The reality that hit me is that whether at home in Minnesota or in the jungles of Malaysia life is precious and we all need to count our days and make our days count.

I just started reading the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan and in the first couple chapters he really drives home the fact that life is not about us… Wow. Ponder it with me. Our time is a gift from our Creator and all that really matters is that we honor Him with that time and love others in His name. I’m trying to boil it down to those simple things so not to complicate my time on this trip. Honor my Father in Heaven and love others the way He loves me.
Prayer that God uses every minute we have left in Honduras would be great! Love you all!
