The country of Guatemala has the ability to produce copious amounts of pouring rain and chilling temperatures (my previous two visits were always hot and sunny!)

Wi-fi and internet access are coveted times on the World Race

Facebook really isn’t that exciting (even after not being on for a week)

Living in community is awesome (aka. Our team is the best!)

Dominga (the Guatemalan cook at our ministry site) prepares delicious organic meals for us every day

Zip-lining above Lake Attitlan is one of the most gorgeous views I’ve ever seen

Ministry can happen in the form of building a rock wall (to prevent mudslides and flooding)

Families in small villages in Guatemala share a corn grinding machine to make masa (corn and water) in order to make fresh corn tortillas every day (this machine wakes us up around 6am each morning)

White people who live here have THE most interesting stories and inspirational lives

It is possible to buy local handicrafts for less than half the original asking price

          I miss cheese and yogurt

Public schools in Guatemala are an unorganized and chaotic mess but remain a privilege that not all children get to attend

Guatemala is definitely not known for its’ chocolate

But… it does have the best coffee I’ve ever tasted in my life

Freshly squeezed juice is energy for the body and soul

Having to brush your teeth with bottled water is a pain in the butt

So, there you have it! I hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse into our life in Guatemala thus far. I was hoping to post some pictures with this blog but due to a slow internet connection I don’t think it’s going to work. Please check our facebook to see some pictures soon! Much love…Katrina
