NO TRANSLATION!!!
It's been 2 1/2 weeks since I've been here at Los Gozosos and 3 weeks since I've been in Guatemala. Overall I am having the time of my life. In the past few weeks I have organized wood in the shed, cleaned out and reorganize the inside of the shed, help build a stage for the Graduation that was here, painted oversized walls inside and out, removed and installed windows, mowed the lawn, washed the most dishes I have ever had to do in my lifetime, and most importantly played with every child here! Giving them hugs and kisses and showing them that they are worth it.
I've had a few rough days but most of all it's been smooth sailing.
My team is here with another team so there is 13 total with us.
24/7 Community can get tough at times, with different personalities and emotions running.
This is such a great experience though, God is definitely growing me in that area.
"Love Covers a Multitude of Wrongs"
So one of the other kids that has really grabbed my heart is Helen.
She comes from a household of 7 brothers and sisters. Her Dad is an alcoholic, which makes it tough for the mother to take care of the kids. The mom has to work also to support the family as the Dad waste his earnings on Alcohol.
So that Helen could live in a safer lifestyle and the attention she needs, Maureen's Organization started up just in time and Helen became the first child. She has been here since she's been 3 years old. Helen is now 10 years old.
Helen has Down syndrome, but is very smart and knowledgeable in so many areas.
She loves to play around, make random noises and also loves to fart on you. (More than once)
My favorite part of her is when she wakes up from a nap and sees you, she will yell at you and run to you with arms wide open! Making you pick her up and jump around with her. She has such contagious joy and when you are around her all you can do is smile and laugh. She can definitely turn your frown upside down.
Thank you for partnering with me and letting me live out my dream.
If it wasn't for your support I wouldn't be able to experience all that I have
in just the first month.
Below are pictures of Helen and of our workload!
