Today is our last official day of ministry. It's hard to believe, but tomorrow we will leave Nicaragua and travel to Costa Rica to begin our final week of this year. There, we will spend the week as a squad debriefing our experiences and enjoying eachother for the final days of this journey. As I've spent time recently reflecting on each individual month and experience we've had, I decided to give you a little summary of the year!
Eleven months ago, our journey began
We said, “Yes, God, but you lead the way”
One backpack they told us
And I thought, “That’ll be the day”
Off to Manila, our squad would go
Heat and humidity waiting at the door
Kids, construction, first aid, and feedings
By the end, we were asking for more
China was next, and oh were we ready
Our second time around this block
To meet, to share, and disciple students
Our worlds, God would yet again rock
The cape of South Africa was soon to follow
With the best ocean front view
Our preschool kids we sure did love
Leaving them made us quite blue
Month 4 was our own personal desert
Marked by mosquitoes, our tent, and sweat
We’ll miss you Elias, Antonio, and Tito
But no return to Mozambique, you can bet
Behold the land of green pastures
Swaziland, what a surprise to see
El Shaddai, a refuge on a mountain
That will always remain dear to me
Our season would change to winter
In Romania with white, fluffy snow
The gypsies are beautiful people
Whom I’m now proud to say I know
In Serbia we learned hospitality
We were cared for to no end
Jovic, Ljubica, Dragona, and Sara
Each one of them became our friend
The Czech Republic was a musical month
Touring with a band, was that real?!
Divine Attraction, what a great group
A once in a lifetime kind of a deal
We said so long to Europe and hello Guatemala
It was now time to go our own way
I with the women and he with the men
Reunion came, and oh what a sweet day!
Honduras would be number 10
An in”tents” month for sure
40 people, one room, no escape
For this, there is no cure
Vision Nicaragua would be our finale
A place of peace, we were happy to find
Mario, Antonia, and the rest of the crew
Are all absolutely one of a kind
Now to Costa Rica we will travel
One last time for Z squad
They’ve been our family away from family
And will remain so united in God
Looking back I am in total awe
Of how He prepared the way
Our World Race was an adventure, no less
We will speak of ‘till our dying day.
