53 months ago, I wrote a blog asking God for the University of Memphis. I was claiming the territory asking God to save college students and free them from bondage. The purpose of claiming a territory is to claim it as territory for the kingdom of God to expand instead of territory for the kingdom of Satan to expand. You can read that blog here.
God led me to attend school at the University of Memphis immediately after coming home from the World Race in 2011. He showed me thousands of students surrounding me who were lost. They were not only lost spiritually but they didn’t have a clue of the direction for their lives. I began seeing a generation without purpose and was broken.
God continued opening my eyes while I attended the school between 2011 – 2013. He led me to pray for hundreds, if not thousands, of students. Waves of students were coming to the Lord asking me to help them spiritually but I was overwhelmed. I couldn’t manage the harvest by myself. I was working 30 -40 hours at Costco, taking 18 hours in college, studying 4 – 6 hours a day, ministering to people and was overloaded with the demands of life. I was led to pray over the campus almost every day for a year and a half during that time because God told me revival was starting.
I prayed for 1000’s of students and faculty to be saved. I spoke freedom over the campus. I started a small discipleship group at the campus and was part of several start up ministries. The Lord began showing me a vision as I prayed on the campus.
He showed me teams of students spread out throughout the campus who were stepping into their God given roles and reaching out to the world around them. The teams were operating in their gifts as evangelists, intercessors, artists, administrators, dancers, and servants. Moreover, God was showing me a vision of ministries serving food to students. I saw the vision but knew the vision would require ministries joining together to manage the harvest. Therefore, I began praying for laborers to be raised up to reach students and disciple them. The prayers have been answered and are still being answered. Thousands are being saved and discipled at the University of Memphis. Moreover, ministries are coming together.
A ministry called BCM is reaching students throughout the campus and discipling them through a program called Focus. Moreover, they have small discipleship groups teaching the word of God, mission trips going throughout the world and they are feeding hundreds of students on Fridays. They are seeing a wave of international and domestic students being saved. Another college ministry called Chi Alpha was started on the campus in 2013. Chi Alpha is an answered prayer to labors being raised up. They have teams of students meeting throughout the campus to evangelize and they are teaching the word of God to students on the campus. One of the leaders told me an entire dorm of students were saved in the dorms and baptized in bath tubs in 2013. I was ecstatic when I learned about this. It is exciting to see the years of prayer walking throughout the campus being answered! But wait… that’s not all that happened.
In 2014, more laborers were raised up. A prayer ministry called University House of Prayer was started. UHOP is a team purposefully interceding for those who are ministering on the campus. I believe it is the team God was showing me in the vision that was interceding for the people on the campus.
In close, I wanted to share about the fruit birthing at The University of Memphis. In 2011, I asked God to give me The University of Memphis as a territory for the kingdom of God to expand. I’m telling you today that He has given me and other christians this territory.
Teams are beginning to form on the campus! The word of God is being preached, 1000‘s are being saved, teams of students are being discipled, teams are interceding for believers ministering on campus and the power of God is moving at the University of Memphis. However, it’s just the beginning… I’ll share more about a vision for training students in my next blog. Here’s a small glimpse…
A vision for training missionaries began birthing in my heart and ideas flooded my mind on a daily basis starting in 2012. I wasn’t capturing the ideas until The Lord spoke to me at work one day. He spoke to me through Habakkuk 2 saying: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
Therefore, I obeyed the Lord, began capturing the vision and have been patiently waiting for the vision to birth as it has lingered. This vision has led me on a three year journey of researching, networking and training. It let me to live on the other side of the world to learn from world leaders. It led me into several hardships including losing my best friend to cancer and being attacked by demons. It led me to a deep love for students that I can’t seem to shake. The vision is…
