The World Race wanted alumni to write a blog about
what is up with us now that it has been a year from being back from the World
Race. Here is that blog…
I have been home from the World Race for a little over a
year. I have been home from leading the passport trip to Nicaragua for about 3
months. So what in the heck is going on with my life now?
My life is extremely good right now. I have been in a season
of waiting and trusting in Jesus for a long time. Recently God has brought me
into a season of opening the floodgates of blessing along with seeing fruit
from past seasons that I have been in. I have been through some tests and have
learned to put lots of faith in what Jesus has been telling me. I have learned
how to praise Him during my bad days and praise Him in my great days. I have
truly found that my joy comes from the Lord. My joy does not come from
circumstances. I am still fighting the good fight and I plan on fighting it all
the way until the last day that I am on this planet.
I am getting ready to enter a season that is going to be
busy beyond belief. I am working at Costco around 30 hours a week. I am about
to take on 18 hours of school. Moreover, and most importantly, I am starting a
discipleship class at my house today (08/15/12).
About two months ago I was out of a job because I led a team
of college students to Nicaragua for four months. I was praying every day that
the Lord would provide a good paying job that I liked. I had an interview at
Home Depot for a Millworks specialist that would have paid me well. The interview went well and when I walked out
of the interview I had a message on my phone from Dick’s sporting goods.
Dick’s wanted to interview me for a position to oversee one
of their departments. I called the manager back and he already seemed really
impressed with me. He was telling me that he liked my résumé and he wanted to
know more about the World Race. So I explained what the World Race was and I
agreed that I would meet him later that day for an interview.
I interviewed with two store managers in the same meeting
and I knocked the interview out of the park. They were very impressed with me
and wanted to give me a second interview with another manager. I was excited
but they weren’t really talking the money that I was looking to get for
managing a department.
A few days later I went back to interview with the other
manager and I was still waiting to hear something back from Home Depot. The
manager offered me the job but I asked if I could think about it for a couple
of days before I accepted.
I went to the lake with my family and one of my friends and
thought about it in depth. When I got back from the lake I found out that I
didn’t get the job at Home Depot so I went to accept the job at Dick’s. When I
went up there I felt in my spirit that I didn’t need to be at Dick’s. I went in
to accept the job despite the warning from the Holy Spirit and the manager told
me that they had hired someone else that day that had the experience that they
were looking for.
A few weeks later I kept hearing the Holy Spirit tell me to
go to Costco. So I went to Costco after a family vacation and I was immediately
hired! I have been working there for about a month and a half and have already
been asked twice if I wanted a better position. This week I have an interview
for one of the positions that they offered me. Moreover, I have already started
working in that position even before my interview.
I will be attending school at the University of Memphis at
the end of August. I am taking 18 hours this semester and if all goes well I
will take 12 hours next semester to finish my degree. I will have a degree in
Business Management! I plan on using my degree at Costco. I feel like it is a
company that I will be with for a long time and I hope to manage a store one
day! My goal is to bring the kingdom of heaven to the workplace. I want to be a
light where light needs to be shed.
For the past couple of weeks I have been prompted by God to
start a class at my house. The class will be focused on bringing the kingdom of
heaven to earth and knowing God in more intimate ways. We will be in the word
of God, praying, prophesying, worshipping to music, and doing life together. I
start that class tonight in my backyard.
This next season will be a very busy season for
me but I keep hearing God say GO. When I see the word GO the spirit tells me
that it means to start the busy season. I am looking forward to seeing the
kingdom expand. I have already seen a lot of fruit just from having a deep
intimate relationship with the Lord and being intentional with my words and
actions! I can honestly say that the World Race and leading a passport trip has
helped me tremendously with my relationship with God!
