Hi family and friends! We have now made it safely to Kenya after 28 hours of traveling. We arrived in Nairobi on the 27th of January to debrief with R squad and Q squad. The director of the world race, Michael Hindes, and another staff member, Sean, came here to walk us through some things that we might be going through and to preach what the Lord was speaking to them. Wait a second! You do believe that God still speaks to His people today don’t you? Well I hope so because He does speak to His children. It was the best debrief I have had so far.
Now when I say this was the best debrief I had that does not mean it was filled with glamour and excitement although I had some fun and even got to go on a Safari! I was actually pretty broken and trying to figure out some things about myself and what God was saying to me.
The fact of the matter is I was not very excited about the ministry we were doing and culture shock hit me really hard while we were in Rwanda. Every moment I walked outside of the gate of the house we were staying in, suddenly I would be bombarded by people asking for money, laughing at me and calling me mzungu, which means white person. I would go running in the morning and people would actually stop in their tracks, some with giant baskets on their heads, and turn just to stare at me. It was as if they saw Jesus running down the street. Others would run with me for a couple seconds mocking me and others would yell at me. After the first week that got really annoying because I could not run and concentrate on God as I usually do so I quit running and started working out inside the house. So needless to say I was ready to leave Rwanda to head to Kenya.
The next day I woke up and we went door to door ministering. We had a great day of ministry but we had walked about 5 or 6 miles and we were all really hungry because that morning we had bread for breakfast which consist of nothing but carbohydrates. Therefore I was running on empty and ready to eat something to put a little fuel in my body. On the way back from ministry I walked past the spot I was supposed to meet the two guys at around 1:55. It started to rain really hard and I was really hungry so I didn’t wait around for them to show nor did I expect them to shoe due to the rain. It continued to rain that day and I never met the two guys. I blew it off at first because I had their numbers but as the days went by I never got around to calling either one of the guys to finish our conversation.
So now I have given over control to God once again and I am going to start following through with my words. I want to repent to everyone for not faithfully writing once a week. From this point on I will write at least once a week if it is possible for us to use the internet.
I say all of this to tell you God did an amazing work in my life last week during debrief. Thank you all for praying for me! God is rocking my world right now and I love it. I am changing from the inside out every single day.
