A little background on my life

Hi I am Ryan Hurd. I was born in Memphis, TN on April 24, 1987. This is when my journey with life started. I am a very fun person to be around and make the best of each situation I am in. I am the son of David and Rhonda Hurd and a brother to Aaron Hurd. I am very blessed to have parents that are still a couple and an amazing brother who is very inspiring to me. I grew up in a small house that was comfortable for four people to live in and made so many good memories in Memphis that will last forever. I went to high school in Bartlett and then went to southwest community college for two years. While I was in high school I worked at a car dealership for three years and then started working at Home Depot in 2006. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 17 years old. After I gave my life to Jesus, I got connected in a life group at New Hope church and was going to church on a regular basis.  A couple of years went past and I was in the same exact pointe in my life as I was when I accepted Jesus. I was not growing in my walk with the Lord. I graduated from high school in 2005 and started going to college at Southwest community college. In 2007 I decided I had to do something with my life because I was stuck and was not making any progress in my walk with Jesus. So I decided that I would move to Murfreesboro, TN to finish college and get my life right with God. When I moved to Murfreesboro I met a lot of people through school and the parties that I went to. I was having the time of my life and ended up becoming friends with more than 200 people during the three years I have lived in murfreesboro. Then last year in the summer of 2009 a change started happening in me. The Lord started to work on me in many ways. He was telling me to give up all of my addictions and start living for him. This was a really hard thing for me to do because I loved my life. So for a while I held onto what I had and did not follow the Lords instructions. But then I started becoming depressed and went through a lot of different situations in my life which resorted to me reading the bible and going to world outreach church. Over the next couple of months is when God really started showing me who he was. I finally laid down my life for Christ and gave it to him. I put down the addictions that I was holding onto because I could not continue to hold onto my old life if I was going to live for the Lord. So I started doing everything I could to get to know more about who God is. I talked to many people about their stories on how they got to know God and they would share with me what God has done and what he was doing in their lives. As time went on, I started going to four different college ministries and started reading the bible every day. I worked on getting to know the bible and who Jesus is. I found out that the bible is a very interesting book consisting of many faithful people who followed God. As I continued to get to know the Lord more my life started to change a little each day. I found myself not going out to parties anymore and instead getting excited about going somewhere to hear the word of God preached. Over the last couple of months I started going to New Vision Church in murfreesboro. I have learned a lot about the people of the bible there and how we should be living for the lord. Now God is calling me to go out into all nations to preach his word. I just found out about this mission trip in may and I can see how God has already been preparing me for the last year to go on this mission trip. God is doing some amazing things in me and through me now and I have a lot of stories that I can tell on how Jesus changed me completely! I am now trusting that God is going to use me in many ways to further his kingdom. I leave in September to start this world race! I have to raise $14,300 for this trip and God has told me he will provide so I am trusting that he will. If you feel led to you can support me through my blog by clicking the support me button.
