This month we have been in Maputo, Mozambique working with a ministry called Masana that deals specifically with street boys.  Masana’s goal is to bring in street boys to the program and provide them with food, schooling, bible study and a safe place to spend their day.  Their overall objective is to build relationships with the boys and reintegrate them back into their families.  Many of the boys have left their homes for a variety of different reasons.  Some of the reasons include family abuse, poverty, and neglect.  Some of the boys left their parents just to see what life was like on the streets and chose a life without rules over a stable family.  Masana is here to find family members that will be able to take care of the needs of the boys and provide them with a safe and stable home and help the boys see that life with family is much better than life on the streets.

Our Masana Family for the Month

The main ministry we have been a part of is building relationships with the kids.  We just spend time loving them, playing with them, eating with them, and sharing our lives with them.  We have also had the opportunity to travel a little outside the city to a community center that has around 300 kids come in daily before school and after school.  We were able to teach, play with the kids, serve meals, and do a little construction on a school.  It has truly been an amazing month!  It is a blessing to get to know the staff here at Masana and the boys.  We will never forget the work they are doing and how they are transforming lives.
