Here’s the situation: I walk into a room. There are about 4-5 friends hanging out. I walk in and sit
on the bed. Not a lot is happening. I think to myself, “Man, this is Boring”.

Is it? Or
am I Boring?

The situation is good. A room filled with 4-5 of my
closest friends. There is a lot of potential there. There are plenty of things I could do.

Start asking some good questions. Get them to play a game. Play some music and start a dance party.

But instead I sit there
and wander why things are so boring.

Hoping someone else will start some fun that I can join in on.

The last 2 weeks, this phrase has been running
through my head –

If You’re Bored

It’s Because Your Boring.

I find it applying
to lots of social situations:

If
a conversation isn’t very fun.

“Can
we leave this Gypsy village ? I’m pretty bored with these kids.”

                         Not
having a good time with my team.

Really any situation
where I have found myself BORED
in this last week

I have found it’s usually because I’m being pretty BORING.

Or in other words – I’m a HUGE PART of the BORINGNESS (If that’s a word)

This thought has crossed over to my ministry in Romania as well.

Things have not been
ideal
this month and most of the
ministry
we have been doing isn’t in my

Wheelhouse of things I am passionate about.

Handing out flyers
worded in Hungarian to people that
might only speak Romanian.

And probably no
English
at all.

Or trying to spark up conversation with those same
people.

Putting up posters promoting a local Christian
concert.

Running and promoting a church service that only 3-4 people show up to.

This thought came in
my head though.

If Ministry
SUCKED this month.

It’s
because I played a huge role in that.

So in each situation I
brought
as much Energy, Joy and Intentionality as possible.

Making the best
of what I had been given.

And you know what?

God blessed that.

I met some people that I have become friends with. I had some great conversations.

Got to pray
for some people.

A man I got to pray for one day.

I actually had fun
putting up posters.

We had an AWESOME church service the last Friday we there.

And it applies to types
of ministry I like
too.

My time with the local youth
group
has been WAY BETTER. Finding opportunities to hang out, disciple and have fun that wouldn’t have been there had I just accepted the situation.

My time in Tirgu Mures has been way better.

Doing things on my off days like: Bike Riding
and Trips to the Local Zoo.

Using that mindset, I was able to stay engaged for hours with Super-Energetic Gypsy Kids

Jumping all over me.

I think I’m
on to something here.

If You’re Bored – It’s Because You’re Boring. (I first heard this from Gary Black)

                  If Ministry
Sucks- I’m a Huge Part of that.

Next month
we are helping at a Coffee Shop in Split, Croatia.

If it’s Boring – I will know why.
